Barriane Franks debuts art show, website

Barriane Franks has an online art show featured at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Her latest offering entitled "This Is America" features work highlighting the history of social injustices against African-Americans in this country. 

 

Barriane Franks is a senior Visual Arts major at Xavier University of Louisiana and NOCCA 2017 Visual Arts Alum. Her sophomore year at NOCCA, she began her Social Injustice series. She's had solo shows at Cornerstone United Methodist Church’s, St. Mary’s Academy’s, and NOCCA’s Black History Programs. Her first solo exhibition, “This is America”, showcasing her Social Injustice series was held in the Xavier University of Louisiana Art Village Gallery. Several pieces in this series have also exhibited at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Purdue University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kelwood Contemporary Art, the Alabama State University Civil Rights Museum, and 5 Press Gallery. Additionally, some have been published in the CAC Teen Zine 2017 and issue 38 of Studio Visit Magazine. Three pieces won statewide (two gold, one bronze) in the NAACP ACT-SO competition. 

David Jackson releases children's book

David Jackson, writing under the pen name Dominic Summers, just released a children's book. The book is about a little girl and her new best friend. Her dad found a large dog and now Lilly has a new playmate. The book is appropriate for kids ages 4 - 8 years old. 

The book is available on Amazon as either a Kindle or paperback. A portion of the proceeds goes to a local non-profit.

James Banks, CEO of Forward Performance

Forward Performance started in September of 2016, with the belief that human performance can be beneficial for everyone. Banks is the CEO and Head Sports Performance Specialist at Forward Performance Athletes LLC, specializing in movement fundamentals, speed and agility,  position specific training, and strength and conditioning for all sports and general fitness. We continue to feel strong about our decisions to create the ultimate game plan to serve others and help our clients achieve more in their daily lifestyle habits. We want to impact more people around the community and world-wide, rather than confining ourselves to establish industries such as: health care, corporate wellness, and sports performance. We're interested in helping each client to navigate their minds' in physical well-being to put them in the best position to take full control of their health so they can achieve more throughout life.
